Overview

Two second half goals saw Brentwood beaten again when they went to Bury St. Edmunds. It was another entertaining match in which the visitors played a full part and they would have achieved a better result had they capitalised on a strong first half performance.

However, Brentwood did find themselves under pressure early in the match and fell behind in the 10th minute when Ollie Hughes converted from close in following a Bradley Barber corner.
Brentwood responded well with Andy Freeman causing lots of problems to the home defence and they should have been level in the eighteenth minute when Freeman was brought down in the area by defender Joe White, but Matt Hall had his penalty kick saved by Bury’s goalkeeper Neil O’Sullivan.

Brentwood deservedly equalised in the 33rd minute through Andy Greenslade, after Freeman created the chance with another fine run down the left wing.

Marcus Milner then saw his shot saved at the foot of the post before Bury responded with a shot from Luke Read that hit the underside of the Brentwood crossbar.

The home side were back in front in the 58th minute when Remi Garrett got to the ball just before Muhammed Otuyo, Brentwood’s debutant goalkeeper, and cleverly chipped the ball into the goal. There was some confusion as the referee’s whistle seemed to be heard before the ball crossed the line but the goal was given.

Ryan Jolland scored Bury’s third goal nine minutes from time to put the game beyond Brentwood and they then had Andy Freeman sent off for a second yellow card before the end.
