Brentwood went out of the county cup after a penalty shoot-out at the Arena on Tuesday. It was an entertaining encounter against Ryman Premier Harlow, who dominated for long periods and led at half time through Khale da Costa’s 37th minute strike.
But Blues turned the game around with two goals early in the second half before Stan Muguo equalised in the 68th minute to send the tie into a penalty shoot-out decider at the end of the 90 minutes.
It was a good performance by Blues marred only by two second half red cards for Arthur Gonclaves and Sam Owusu, which left them to finish the match with ten men.
Blues were indebted to goalkeeper Joe Taylor who made a number of fine saves to keep them in the game.
Brentwood’s goals came from Andy Greenslade in the 49th minute and they equalised in the 56th minute when Greenslade, again, forced the ball in but the goal was later credited to substitute Mason Bloomfield, his first the club, after his header was deemed by the officials to have crossed the goal line after hitting the underside of the crossbar.
