RYMAN DIVISION ONE NORTH
BRENTWOOD TOWN 2 – 1 THURROCK 1
Brentwood have now picked up seven points from their last three matches after Lamar Reynolds 95th minute winner pulled them out of the relegation zone and put a dent in Thurrock’s promotion hopes.
The home side started the first half brightly with Matt Hall and Leon Gordon testing Thurrock goalkeeper Bobby Mason, and Blues took the lead through Harrison Georgiou’s 15th minute strike, which came just moments after a Reece Morgan shot had hit a post at the other end.
Perry Dunn also hit an upright for Fleet before half time and they looked to take command after David Cowley equalised with a free kick into the corner of the goal in the 50th minute.
Both sides tired late in the game on the sticky surface and there were several yellow cards issued before the end. The match could have gone either way until Reynolds late goal secured the points for Blues. Reynolds converted from Georgiou’s cross for his eighteenth goal of the season.
Brentwood now have a ten-day break before the next fixture, which is at home to Wroxham, a team that is in the relegation zone, on Tuesday 7th February.
