RYMAN DIVISION ONE NORTH
A goal from Evandro Delgado midway through the second half saw Ware secure three vital points that greatly eased their relegation fears but left Brentwood four points from safety.
Blues had their best chances in the first half and went very close to a sixth minute opener after Andy Freeman ran into the area and put a ball into the path of the onrushing Leon Gordon. Ware keeper Darren Behcet got across to block the shot and grab the ball before it crossed the goal line.
Lamar Reynolds went close soon after and Blues leading scorer had the best chance in the 37th minute when Nick hilder’s pass put him through on goal but Reynolds could not beat Behcet as he came off his line. Behcet then saved again from Gordon just before half time.
Ware looked stronger in the second half and Gareth Price hit the underside of the Brentwood crossbar with a header from a Murat Karagul cross eight minutes after the restart.
Ware got the crucial goal in the 67th minute when Delgado scored at the second attempt after Anthony Page had stopped his first effort.
Blues worked hard to get back on level terms but could not beat Behcet who saved again from Reynolds’ header from a Freeman cross six minutes before the end.
Brentwood’s next match is on Saturday 18th February, away to Waltham Abbey, the team currently one place and four points above them in Ryman North.
