Saturday 25th February
RYMAN DIVISION ONE NORTH
BRENTWOOD TOWN 3 - 0 NORWICH UNITED
Three second half goals including a spectacular volley for the third goal by Lamar Reynolds gave Blues a comfortable and welcome win over Norwich United at the Brentwood Arena on Saturday.
A dominating display by Lamar Reynolds proved to be too much for a high-riding Norwich side. Brentwood displayed their dominance early on within this fixture by keeping possession of the ball with the away side unable to make an attacking impact on the game.
The Blues continuously tested the Norwich United goalkeeper Andy Wilton throughout the first half with attempts from Leon Gordon and Reynolds, while the visitors only managed one shot on target.
However, Blues were unable to break the deadlock leaving the score 0-0 at half-time.
The first goal of the game came in the 57th minute, as striker Leon Gordon’s shot was parried into the path of Ife Ogunbayo for the opener.
Striker Gordon could have doubled Brentwood Town’s lead just minutes later, however his shot went blazing over the bar.
The 75th minute saw Brentwood’s second goal which was converted by right-back Brendan Cavalier with a convincing shot into the bottom left hand corner of the net.
To highlight Reynolds importance within the fixture, the number 11 scored a wonderfully executed volley into the top left hand corner to secure the three points for Brentwood Town in the 87th minute.
Brentwood Town: Page, Cavalier, Foster, Owusu, Martin, O'Rawe, Freeman, Greenslade, Gordon (English 81), Ogunbayo (Hilder 90), Reynolds (Gyamfi 90).
