Price goal not enough at Tilbury

Theo Jones - created Brentwood's goal

Monday 28th August
BOSTIK LEAGUE DIVISION ONE NORTH
TILBURY 2 – 1 BRENTWOOD TOWN

Matt Price's sixth goal of the season in the 71st minute was not enough to salvage a point at Chadfields on Bank Holiday Monday.

Blues started the first half brightly with Harrison Georgiou and Jack Gardner making some dangerous runs into the Dockers box.

Tilbury led from the tenth minute when Adam Vyse drove home from 12 yards from Ryan Melaugh’s pass.

The lead could soon have been increased shortly after wards when the visiting defence was opened up once more but Luke Hornsley shot wide from a good position.

Anthony Page saved well from Hornsley in the 33rd minute but Blues went desperately close to an equaliser in first half stoppage time with Georgiou having two attempts blocked by the home defence as he tried to force the ball home from very close range.

Page continued to be the busier keeper in the second half and Tilbury increased their lead in the 65th minute. Kurt Smith’s long range free kick looked to be dropping just under the bar and when Page failed to hold the ball Hornsley nipped in for an opportunist goal from three yards out.

Price's goal was created by a surging run by Theo Jones through the middle of the park but it was not enough on the day.

Brentwood Town: Page, Gardner, Foster (Martin 60), Jones, O’Rawe, Cavalier, Hilton (Bademosi 69), Rees (English 64), Price, Georgiou, Freeman.
