Another trophy replay after stalemate at the Arena

Saturday 28th October
Brentwood will have a trip to Bedford for a replay on Tuesday after this goalless draw at the Arena.

In contrast to the previous round of the competition that saw fifteen goals scored in Brentwood’s two matches against South Park, there were few clear chances over the 90 minutes in Saturday’s match.

Blues started the first half in the ascendancy and forced four successive corners in the opening few minutes. Bedford’s Ryan Auger had a couple of good shots at goal and Dylan Gittens effort glanced the crossbar in the first half.

Playing against an increasingly strong wind, Blues found themselves having to defend in the second half, a task they generally did well with the visitors going closest to scoring when Auger’s free kick was parried by home keeper Anthony Page onto and over the bar.

Brentwood Town: Page, Gardner (Hunter 79), Martin, Jones, Gibbs, Cavalier, Price, Hilder, Freeman, Wiggins (Hilton 58), Bademosi (Pugsley 68).

The FA Trophy replay means that Wednesday’s Essex Senior Cup match at West Essex will be postponed and the expected new date for that fixture is now Wednesday 8th November – that will mean the Bostik North fixture at home to AFC Sudbury that was scheduled Tuesday 7th November will also have to be rearranged.
