Blues beaten at home by Bury Town

Brenden Cavalier

Saturday 4th November

Bury Town earned the points with a goal in each half in this Bostik North fixture at the Brentwood Arena on Saturday.

Blues created a chance in the third minute when Alfie Hilton found Andy Freeman in a good position, but he failed to get his shot on target.

Freeman and Bury’s John White both had goals disallowed for offside before Freeman had his team’s best chance in the first half, picking up a loose back pass, but he could not beat Bury goalkeeper Luis Tibbles in a one-on-one.

But the visitors crafted a fine goal in the 36th minute, Tommy Robinson finishing well from inside the area.

When Cemal Ramadan made it 2-0 in the 55th minute, applying the finish following a free kick, Brentwood had a difficult task to get back into the game, but they responded well. They introduced strikers Brad Hunter and new signing Shomari Barnwell from the bench and had the visitors under pressure.

Hilton went close, clipping the crossbar from a free kick and forcing a good save from Tibbles before Brenden Cavalier finally reduced the arrears in the 84th minute, the defender finding the net for the second successive match.

Brentwood Town: Page, Pugsley, Martin, Robson, Gibbs, Cavalier, Hilton, Hilder (Jones 63), Freeman, Wiggins (Barnwell 51), Foster (Hunter 66).
