Blues well beaten at Maldon

Brad Hunter

Tuesday 14th November

Maldon completed a league double at over Brentwood at the Wallace Binder Ground on Tuesday night when for the second time this season Blues were unable to cope with the pace of a strong Maldon team.

The Jammers took the lead as early as the fifth minute, Johnville Renee finishing off a good move.

The home side generally looked the more likely to score but when Brentwood managed to get forward, Brad Hunter had a shot cleared off the line by Josh Pollard. Former Maldon striker Hunter had another chance following a corner in the 20th minute but he headed wide at the far post from Harry Gibbs’ cross.

The Bostik North’s leading goal scorer, Junior Ogedi-Uzokwe, increased the Maldon lead in the 28th minute to leave Blues a difficult task. But they started the second half strongly and after a period of pressure, they pulled a goal back through a Pollard own goal in the 53rd minute.

However, Pollard made amends ten minutes later when he restored his team’s two-goal lead and Nicholas Akoto made the final score 4-1 in stoppage time.

Brentwood Town: Page, Gardner, Martin, Hall, Gibbs, Cavalier, Hilton (Wiggins 72), Robson (Pugsley 46), Hunter (Barnwell 62), Hilder, Price.
