Saturday 23rd December
BOSTIK DIVISION ONE NORTH
NORWICH UNITED 2 - 1 BRENTWOOD TOWN
Despite taking a second minute lead through a Luke Foster free kick, Brentwood left Norfolk pointless after conceding two second half goals at Plantation Park on Saturday.
With just 80 seconds on the clock, Foster curled a superb free kick into the top corner to put the visitors ahead, but Norwich were soon pressing for an equaliser. Shaun Wones had a shot comfortably saved by Anthony Page, Matt Hall cleared off the line following a corner and Page made an excellent diving save to keep out a volley by Adam Hipperson.
Brentwood had strong appeals for a penalty for handball refused and it remained 1-0 at the break.
It was Hipperson who proved the difference in the second half. His pull back was deflected into his own goal by Brentwood centre back Harry Gibbs in the 62nd minute and it was Hipperson who headed what proved to be the winner in 71st minute.
After that good start to the afternoon, Brentwood failed to create enough good chances in the rest of the match, rarely threatening home keeper Andy Wilton. Brentwood substitute Jack Mitchell added some life to the midfield after coming on in the later stages for his first team debut.
Brentwood Town: Page, Pugsley (Bell 84), Foster, Hall, Gibbs, Cavalier, Price, Gardner, freeman, Bademosi (Jones 69), Wiggins (Mitchell 82).
