This Friday (26th January), Brentwood Town stage their first ever Friday night league fixture when Aveley FC visit us for a Bostik North match.
Both sides would welcome a win as they currently occupy the nineteenth and twentieth positions in the league table with Aveley four points ahead of Blues, who have played five games less.
There are a few ex-Brentwood players in the Avely squad, which will add interest to what is always an interesting local derby.
The match will be the first played under Brentwood’s new floodlight system. The lights have been upgraded this week and should be a great improvement on the previous system.
There has been some recent transfer activity within the Brentwood Town squad with Andy Freeman moving to Concord Rangers, Matt Price to Heybridge Swifts and Izzy Bademosi to Barking. Blues manager Craig Shipman says: “I would like to thank all three for their hard work and commitment to Brentwood Town.”
However, Shipman has secured the signing of Tony Stokes from Bowers & Pitsea and he says: “This lad brings to our squad a wealth of experience and quality and is a proven goal scorer in non-league football. He the ex-captain of West Ham Utd U18 and reserve sides, playing alongside the likes of Mark Noble and Jack Collison, and I know Tony is buzzing to get started, especially seeing what kind of game we play in the recent match against Bowers. So, Tony, we wish you all the best and welcome to Brentwood Town.”
Kick-off at the Brentwood Arena on Friday is 7.45pm, admission prices £8 adults, £4 concessions, U16s £1, U12s free.
