Saturday 17th February
BOSTIK DIVISION ONE NORTH
HEYBRIDGE SWIFTS 3 – 1 BRENTWOOD TOWN
Three first half goals from the Swifts settled this league match at Scraley Road on Saturday.
Blues had the first chance of the match after just four minutes when Tony Stokes played in Alfie Hilton who shot straight into the arms of home goalkeeper Danny Sambridge.
Heybridge went ahead from the penalty spot in the sixth minute after Harrison Chatting was fouled just inside the box and Luke Callander shot past Anthony Page.
Page saved from the dangerous Juan Luque in the eleventh minute and Swifts looked like increasing their lead as they put the Blues defence under a lot of pressure with Chatting and Lewis Godbold having chances to score.
Stokes went close to an equaliser for Brentwood, heading wide following a Daryl Robson free kick into the area.
Chatting was again involved in Heybridge’s second goal on 40 minutes as he headed back across goal for Ryan Henshaw to score from close range.
Almost immediately after the restart, Stokes shot straight at Sambridge and as the action continued to switch from end to end, it was 3-0 to the home side in the 42nd minute, this time Chatting the scorer. And it could have been worse for Brentwood when Joe Gardner’s effort hit a post just before half time.
Compared to the first half there were relatively few goal scoring opportunities in the second. Brentwood made a tactical switch with Harry Gibbs moving from the centre of defence to right back to nullify the threat of Luque.
Blues efforts were rewarded in the 84th minute when Luke Foster followed up to score after Sambridge had parried Luke Stanley’s swerving shot.
Brentwood Town: Page, McCabe, Brown, Cuthbert (Martin 61), Gibbs, Cavalier, Wiggins (Stanley 70), Robson, Stokes, Hilton, Foster (Hunter 85).
