Late, late goal knocks Blues out of Velocity Trophy

Thursday 8th March
VELOCITY TROPHY QUARTER-FINAL
BRENTWOOD TOWN 0 – 1 DULWICH HAMLET

This entertaining cup tie had a remarkable finish when the Dulwich Hamlet goalkeeper scored a winning goal with virtually the last kick of the game.

With the game entering a fourth minute of stoppage time and heading for a penalty shootout, visiting keeper Corey Addai came forward to take a free kick just inside the Brentwood half. Addai hit the kick deep into the penalty area and the ball somehow eluded everyone including Blues goalkeeper Anthony Page and ended in the net.

Blues had held their own against the Bostik Premier Division league leaders although earlier in the second half they had been indebted to Page who made two outstanding saves to keep the score line blank.

Brentwood had gone closest to scoring in the first half when Harry Gibbs thundered a 30-yard free kick against the Hamlet crossbar.

Brentwood Town: Page, Pugsley, Brown, Jones, Gibbs, Cavalier, Hilton, Robson (Cuthbert 63), Gardner (Hunter 78), Hall, Foster (Stanley 66).
