Brentwood return from Great Wakering with a point

Saturday 1st September

Brentwood returned from Great Wakering with a point on Saturday after Simon Thomas’ first half equaliser cancelled out Brentwood’s goal from the penalty spot by Albert Levett.

The visitors were awarded a spot kick when former Brentwood keeper Tim Brown was penalised for an aerial challenge on centre back Quba Gordon, who was making his debut for Brentwood after signing from Haringey Borough. Gordon needed treatment and there was delay before skipper Levett stepped to convert the penalty kick to give his team a 19th minute lead.

Simon Thomas equalised for the home side in the 29th minute and Rovers’ Jake Gordon went closest to scoring before half time but his 44th minute header was well saved by Rob Budd.

Neither side could find a winner in the second half with Wakering’s Thomas having the best chance when he headed over from a Scott Pethers free kick.

Brentwood Town: Budd, Foster, Martin, Hunter, Gordon (Easterford 79), Carter, Gardner, Doyle (Stokes 46), Coley (Mitchell 72), Hilton, Levett.
