9 man Blues come back to advance to next round of FA Trophy

Club News | 8 Sep 2024

Brentwood Town advance into the second qualifying round of the Isuzu FA Trophy after a thrilling 3-2 victory over Witham Town.

The Blues took an early lead when Daniel Ogunleye coolly controlled a long ball and flicked it over his defender before firing it home.

Captain Liam Whipps quickly got the visitors an equaliser from a curling free kick.

The visitors doubled their tally before half time with Josh Osude’s breaking down the left and firing a low shot past Melvin Minter.

Brentwood were reduced to 10 after a controversial second booking for Marlon Agyakwa.

Debutant Kai Brown equalised and moments later Aarons Royal picked up a second yellow for The Blues, with a penalty awarded to Witham.

Witham were then denied from the spot as Josh Osude’s panenka attempt sailed over the bar.

But Jesse Olukolu got 9 men Brentwood the winner as he cut in on the inside of his defender and fired a curling shot into the top corner.

Details regarding the second round will be announced in due course. But The Blues will be back in league action this Tuesday as they welcome Heybridge Swifts to The Arena.
