Tuesday 19th March
BOSTIK NORTH DIVISION
BRENTWOOD TOWN 4 – 4 AVELEY
For the second time this season these two teams were involved in an eight-goal thriller. The first league meeting at Parkside in November resulted in a 5-3 win the Millers and they wasted no time putting their stamp on this fixture when Bobby Vaughan put them ahead in the third minute with a shot that went in off the inside of a post.
Blues soon hit back with Charlee Hughes heading home from Alfie Hilton’s left-wing free kick in the ninth minute, and it was the head of Hughes that put Brentwood ahead in the 25th minute from another free kick, this time from the right wing and the left foot of Danny Hurford.
Conor Mead shot Aveley level on 36 minutes, but Blues were back in front three minutes before half time though Tony Stokes’ blistering shot from Kojo Apenteng cross.
Brentwood lost Stokes with a head injury midway through the second half and there were no further goals until the 80th minute when Alex Akrofi headed home from a free kick to make it 3-3. But it looked as though Brentwood would take the three points when Apenteng shot into the bottom corner in the 87th minute. However, there was a considerable amount of stoppage time and Sam Bantick swept home a 95th minute equaliser for Aveley.
Brentwood Town: Budd, Mallett, Hurford, Carter, Gordon, Martin, Apenteng (Gregory 90), Levett, Hughes, Hilton (Fox 90), Stokes (Okoh 69).
