Ashley Nzala’s goal just before half time saw Brentwood through a difficult county cup tie against the Essex Senior League leaders at Wadham Lodge.
Brentwood had the better chances in the first half with Daniel Ogunleye and Andy Freeman often a threat on the flanks and they took the lead in the 44th minute when Nzala headed in from Ryan Richefond’s corner kick.
Walthamstow started the second half strongly, but Brentwood weathered the storm and could have increased their lead through Nzala and Rob Harvey.

The draw for the fourth round of the BBC Essex Senior Cup was made on Thursday and Brentwood have been drawn at home to Tilbury. A date for the tie will be announced in due course.
