Brentwood Town 3-0 Witham Town
Isthmian League North Division
Saturday 11th January 2025
Brentwood Town extended their unbeaten run to 10 matches with a home victory over Witham Town in the local Essex Derby.
An early chance fell to Danny Ogunleye but Witham cleared their lines to deny a lead for The Blues.
A loose ball was picked up on the edge of the box by Lee Noble who advanced goalwards but his shot was denied.
Ogunleye netted his 25th goal of the season and broke the deadlock as his free, in swinging header made its way past Harry Fairs.
Witham came close to equalising as Kamani McFarlane broke down the right hand side and his strike forced a save by Melvin Minter.
The Blues were pushing for another goal during the opening stages of the second half as a curling free kick from Lyle Della-Verde forced a tip over the bar from Fairs.
The lead was doubled as the delivery of Benas Vaivada found Mekhi McKenzie who netted home the cross.
Vaivada added another to the tally as his edge of the box shot reached the back of the net. The wide man skilfully cut inside before rifling his shot past Fairs in the Witham Town goal.
The Blues are currently sit just eight points from the top, with a game in hand, and are back in action this Tuesday as they host second place Bury Town at The Arena.
