Isuzu FA Trophy Second Round Proper
Hereford FC 0 - 1 Brentwood Town
Brentwood Town rewrote history in Hereford as they grabbed a dramatic 1-0 victory over step 2 opposition, Hereford FC.
The Blues started off strong when a free kick delivered into the box by Andrew Freeman was handled by the gloves of Tom Donaghy.
Mekhi McKenzie found a pocket to slot the ball through to Jesse Olukolu who fired a shot towards goal, but was again denied by Donaghy.
The hosts came close to taking the lead with top goal scorer Andy Williams taking a shot from outside the box, which was wide of the right post.
After a first half full of on-target shots, it remained a goalless draw at the break.
Hereford looked to get a goal as the second half recommenced with Tate Campbell attempting a shot from close range, but it was blocked by the body of Melvin Minter.
From then on, The Blues remained in control. Marlon Agyakwa delivered a perfectly weighted cross and found Benas Vaivada at the back post , who fired it into the net.
Moments later the hosts were reduced to 10 men as Tate Campbell saw red for an off the ball incident.
Five additional minutes were displayed before the final whistle was blown, with Brentwood holding out the score line to the end.
It is the first time in the club’s history that they will advance into the Third Round Proper of the Isuzu FA Trophy. The game will be scheduled for Saturday 7th December and the draw to decide our opposition will take place tomorrow.
However, the Blues return to Isthmian League action this Tuesday with a trip to Ipswich Wanderers.
