PITCHING IN ISTHMIAN NORTH
BRENTWOOD TOWN 4 – 2 TILBURY
Brentwood started the new year with a welcome win, their first since October. The Blues starting line-up included two new signings, full-back James Folkes and forward Chris Dickson, and both made a significant contribution.
Brentwood were ahead in just the fifth minute when Solomon Ogunwomoju finished off a chance created by Andy Freeman Dickson, but the lead only lasted seven minutes until Charlie Morris got behind the home defence to equalise for the Dockers.
Blues retook the lead in the 37th minute, a good strike by George Craddock with Dickson and Freeman again involved in the build-up.
The home side continued to make the better chances and Craddock’s shot clipped the crossbar early in second half before Folkes scored a debut goal volleying in from Craddock’s corner kick in the 62nd minute.
David Knight, who started the season with Brentwood Town, reduced the arrears in the 68th minute and the game was still in the balance especially after Dickson marred an otherwise excellent debut by shooting wide of the post from the penalty spot in the 73rd minute.
Substitute Daniel Ogunleye made sure of the points in the 83rd minute scoring from close range with his very first touch after coming off the bench.
Brentwood Town: 1 Harry Girling, 2 James Folkes, 3 Chris Gregan, 4 Jack Dickinson, 5 Matt Cripps, 6 Jack Humphrey, 7 Solomon Ogunwomoju (Daniel Ogunleye 83'), 8 George Craddock (Luke Hirst 87'), 10 Chris Dickson, 11 Andrew Freeman, 12 Connor Hogan (Flavio Jumo 52').
