A BATTLING PLAY OFF FINALAfter a relentless performance by Brentwood Town that extended into extra time and penalties, it was Bowers & Pitsea who were announced as play off winners on Saturday afternoon.
The home side opened the scoring in the 16th minute when a free kick, taken by Chris Millar, managed to slide under the wall and off the post into the bottom corner.
But less than 20 minutes later, The Blues equalised when a free kick delivered by Shad Ngandu found captain Matt Cripps who turned his marker before firing the shot into the right of the goal.
Bowers were awarded a penalty in 65th minute of the second half after a handball. Ben Williamson shot from the spot but his effort was denied by Melvin Minter. Brentwood continued to attack with momentum whilst Bowers defended robustly, leaving both sides level for the rest of the game.
The Blues came close to scoring during extra time with a far range shot from Marlon Agyakwa going just inches over the crossbar and another effort by Ngandu going narrowly wide of goal.
Penalties were the ultimate decider of the play off final. With Cripps and Samuel Jeremiah converting from the spot, the winning penalty came from Olly Sotoyinbo of Bowers.
Everyone at the club is extremely proud of our players, first team management squad and the incredible journey undergone this season at Brentwood Town. Thank you to our sponsors, volunteers and fans for your continued support. We hope to add to our club achievements next season!
