A nine goal glory sees The Blues back to fourth
Brentwood regained fourth position in the league last night after a 9 goal thriller and clean sheet at The Arena against Stowmarket Town.
The scoring was opened by Alex Akrofi in the 10th minute from an assist by Man of the Match Daniel Ogunleye.
Six minutes later a sliding Akrofi assist found Connor Hogan who was able to net the Blues’ second.
Ogunleye added another within minutes after receiving the cross of Akrofi and firing the shot in the bottom left corner.
However, a challenge on Ogunleye by defender Kieran Morley on the edge of the penalty area forced Stowmarket to play the remainder of the game with 10 men.
By half time the Blues were leading by 4 goals with Jonathan Nzengo retrieving the ball and running on the inside of his defender before putting it in the bottom right of the goal.
The relentless attacking continued in the second half with substitute Shad Ngandu managing to finish a cross at the back post.
Just two minutes later saw the Blues lead by six goals with Mekhi McKenzie intercepting a Stowmarket pass and putting it in the back of the net.
Ogunleye scored his second of the night after finishing the intercepted pass of Andrew Freeman. Just moments later Freeman was able to add another to the score sheet by netting a controlled ball into the bottom right corner.
The final goal of the night came in the closing stages of the second half with Wyan Reid firing home a strike on the corner of the penalty area.
This victory puts the Blues in fourth place on 56 points ahead of our next home fixture against Maldon and Tiptree this Friday.
