Brentwood achieved an impressive win at third-placed Bowers on Saturday.
Blues took an early lead when Daniel Ogunleye scored from the edge of the penalty area with just seven minutes gone in the first half.
Debutant centre forward Mekhi McKenzie, a midweek signing from Clacton, made it 2-0 in the 34th minute with another fine strike into the bottom corner.
Alex Akrofi went close to a third for Blues, his shot hitting a post five minutes into the second half.
Brentwood’s defence marshalled by skipper Matt Cripps were in top form as Bowers tried to get back into the match and Blues took a valuable three points and are in eighth place in Isthmian north just two points from the play-off positions.
