BRENTWOOD TOWN 0 – 1 GREAT WAKERING ROVERS

Despite a host of chances for both teams, this match look destined to end goalless until Wakering’s Warren Keyembe grabbed an 87th minute winner six minutes after coming off the bench. The win lifted Great Wakering of the bottom of the table and ended Brentwood’s eight-match unbeaten run.
The visitors had the better of the early chances and Blues Melvin Minter was the busier keeper, twice saving well with ex-Brentwood forward David Knight twice going close to opening the scoring. At the other end Connor Hogan saw his shot blocked after a good move and Flavio Jumo forced a good save from Harry Fairs just before the half hour mark. Jumo then shot over the bar from close range after Fairs pushed out Bryan Ifeanyi’s low cross was into the path of Jumo. Ifeanyi then saw Fairs save his effort as Wakering survived a spell of pressure from the Blues.
Knight then seized on a loose ball and got clear and rounded Minter to set up Hafeez Elegushi who shot over.
There were less chances in the second half but Brentwood should have earned a point after going behind, but Andy Freeman failed to hit the target from close range right at the end.
Brentwood Town: 1 Melvin Minter, 2 James Folkes (Junior Velasquez 82'), 3 Andrew Freeman, 4 Rob Clark, 5 Matt Cripps, 6 Jack Humphrey, 7 George Craddock (Jack Dickinson 82'), 8 Connor Hogan, 9 Bryan Ifeanyi, 10 Flavio Jumo, 11 Solomon Ogunwomoju (Jack Adlington 64').
