ESSEX SENIOR CUP 3rd
ROUND
BRENTWOOD TOWN 3 – 2 TILBURY
Tilbury led twice in this entertaining cup tie, but two very late goals saw Brentwood Town into the next round of the county cup.
The Essex Senior League leaders took a 12th minute lead when Harry Donovan seized on an error in the home defence and produced a quality finish past goalkeeper Melvin Minter.
Brentwood equalised through Alex Akrofi’s header on 26 minutes and both sides threatened to score again but there were no more goals until the 62nd minute when Harvey Browne restored the Dockers lead from Donovan’s assist.
Jon Nzengo was a constant threat down the right wing, and it was he who set up Brentwood’s 89th minute equaliser, his cross being converted by left back Josh Rusoke.
It looked like the match was going to a penalty shootout but Nzengo was brought down in the penalty area and Akrofi stepped up to score 94th minute winner from the spot.
