The Blues are back on the road again this weekend, with a trip to face fellow promotion hopefuls Brightlingsea Regent. Keith Rowland’s side will be looking to continue their unbeaten run in the league against the R’s. Here’s everything you need to know ahead of the match.
Opposition Focus:
Our opponents head into the fixture on the back of a 1-0 defeat away to Heybridge Swifts and have three wins, one draw and two defeats from their last six league outings. Their victories came against Ipswich Wanderers, Grays Athletic and Bury Town. Brett Munyard’s side currently sit 2 points and 2 places behind The Blues, occupying sixth position in the league. Olly Sotoyinbo is The R’s top goalscorer, with nine goals in all competitions so far this season.
Last season, Brightlingsea finished 22nd in the Isthmian Premier Division and will be looking to return at the first time of asking.
Familiar Faces:
Former Blues forward Marlon Agakwa now plays for our opponents. He has so far chipped in with four goals in eleven appearances for his new side. Meanwhile, Blues skipper Matt Cripps returns to his old stomping ground. Crippo played over 280 games for The R’s and captained them to the Isthmian North title in 2017.
