PITCHING IN ISTHMIAN NORTH
BRIGHTLINGSEA REGENT 2 – 0 BRENTWOOD TOWN
Brentwood dominated this match for much of the first half, but two second half goals saw Regent take the points on a very cold afternoon in north-east Essex.
Despite the freezing temperatures the pitch had not frozen, and it was the fog that shrouded the ground, and a minor floodlight issue in the second half, that posed the biggest threats to the match being completed.
Home goalkeeper Lewis Greene saved well from Mekhi McKenzie’s header and Sam Deering’s free kick in the early stages, and Greene denied Deering again before half time.
Regent improved after half time and took the lead halfway through the second half through Bradley Russell, and they scored second right at the end. Blues’ Shad Ngandu was red carded for a last man challenge on Billy Harris and former Brentwood player Kojo Apenteng found the top corner from the resulting free kick to make it 2-0.
