You’ve noticed we’ve been quiet recently...
As the first quarter of the season had been played, Brentwood Town wanted to re-evaluate their performances to make sure their season was on-track. The club and its staff have been extremely busy behind the scenes trying to build a squad to compete at the best level possible in this season's really competitive Isthmian League North Division. With this in mind, certain additions have been made to strengthen the squad and we want to share all this exciting news with you. Here’s the low down on our new additions.
Shad Ngandu:
Shad rejoins after spells at Aveley, Hythe Town, Maldon and Tiptree and Great Wakering Rovers. The midfielder came through our academy and was a key part of our promotion winning side in 2015. Shad re-opened his goalscoring account against Wroxham, scoring from the penalty spot.
Alex Akrofi:
Forward Alex is another familiar face. He scored a hat-trick for The Blues in the 2015 play off final to secure us promotion to the Isthmian Premier League. Akrofi has also featured for Aveley and Tonbridge Angels, as well as Maidstone United, where he won promotion to the National League.
Mekhi McKenzie:
Signed from Essex Senior League outfit FC Clacton, McKenzie has quickly adapted to playing at a higher level. The striker scored 30 goals for FC Clacton last season, and has scored two goals in four appearances for The Blues so far. Mekhi scored on his debut away to Bowers and Pitsea and also in our victory at Enfield.
Jon Nzengo:
The defender joins us from Aveley, where he made over 120 appearances. Nzengo has also played for Romford and East Thurrock United.
Wyan Reid:
Right sided player Wyan has also rejoined the club. During his time away, he has played for Hashtag United, Hornchurch, Aveley and Cheshunt and brings a wealth of experience to the side.
George Sykes:
Striker Sykes joins us from Enfield Town. He played for Aveley between 2019 and the summer of 2023, where he scored 49 goals in 100 league appearances. His goalscoring record at Canvey Island was equally as impressive. George has also played for Tilbury, Dartford, Maldon and Tiptree, St. Albans City and Bishops Stortford and found the net for his Blues debut against Wroxham.
Our new signings bring an abundance of experience and quality to the squad, and we can’t wait to see them continue to develop at Brentwood Town!
