MALDON & TIPTREE 1 – 3 BRENTWOOD TOWN
This impressive away win moved Brentwood moved up to sixth place in Isthmian North, overtaking Maldon who had occupied that position at the start of the day.
Town forward Mekhi McKenzie had two good chances in the opening ten minutes but could not quite convert crosses from debutant Jesse Olukolu and Jon Nzengo. However, it was the home team who took the lead in the fourteenth minute with a fine strike from the edge of the penalty area by George Smith.
But McKenzie was on hand to force home the equaliser from close range in the 25th minute and the visitors had much the better of the second half and went ahead for the first time nine minutes into the second half when Jon Nzengo found the bottom corner from 20 yards to register his first goal for Brentwood.
McKenzie was rewarded with his second goal in the 74th minute form George Sykes’ assist to round of a good win for Town.
